A night light can help you navigate your home or workplace, reduce the fear of the dark and keep you safe. They are available in a variety of designs and styles to suit every room in your house, and come with energy-efficient bulbs, batteries and LEDs to save money on electricity.

Night lights can also be used as mood enhancers to lull you into a restful state before bedtime. They can be shaped into shapes to create a relaxing glow or use soothing colors like blue, pink and green to promote sleep.

They can be a great addition to any home, especially for children and parents with a fear of the dark or night waking issues. They are useful in keeping a child’s vision clear during early morning feedings and diaper changes and help them feel more secure.

Besides being helpful in the bedroom, night lights can be a great way to illuminate pathways and other important fixtures during the day as well. They are a great alternative to relying on harsh overhead lighting that can hurt tired eyes or cause eye strain.

In the Settings panel, click Night light to enable it and set your preferred brightness and color temperature. You can then select whether you want the feature to run automatically or on schedule.

Fixing Night Light Issues on Windows 10

One of the most common issues people have with Night Light is that it doesn’t work properly. This is mainly due to a lack of updated driver software for the display adapter, which can be resolved by updating it through Windows Update or another method.

To check if the problem is due to an outdated display driver, open Device Manager and expand the Display adapters section. If the device has a driver, it will appear in the list, and clicking Update can be done to install the latest version of the driver. If the driver isn’t listed, try deleting and reinstalling it to see if this helps.

If that doesn’t help, you can try updating the display driver manually, which is a quick and easy process. Once you’ve done this, restart your computer and check if the Night Light feature works properly again.

Using the Settings tile on your desktop to toggle Night Light is also a convenient option, but it behaves exactly as the On / Off switch in the Display Settings panel. It will turn on at night, unless you’ve set it to run on a specific schedule.

It’s also a good idea to make sure that you have location service enabled. This is particularly important if you’ve scheduled Night Light to work on a specific time.

Night lights are an excellent tool to improve the safety and comfort of your family members, but they should be used sparingly and only if they’re really necessary. Introducing them prematurely can disrupt your sleeping habits and increase anxiety, and they may have a negative effect on your children’s melatonin production and circadian rhythms. Ultimately, it’s up to you and your family to determine the best way to solve any lighting problems.
